Now We’re Cookin’

January 26, 2016

Our Jetboil gimbal mount arrived today from the UK.  Looks like a nice piece of kit!  The bracket that attaches to the bulkhead is slotted so the whole mount can be easily removed when not needed.

Funny thing when ordering the gimbal.  I emailed them to check availability and mentioned we were racing to Hawaii this summer.  He emailed back asking what boat we were rowing to Hawaii on!  Ha!  Apparently Jetboils and these mounts are popular with the ocean rowing crowd and New Ocean Wave, the sellers of the gimbal mount, are also the promoters for the Great Pacific Rowing Race.  I remember there was some commentary in 2014 on the forums about keeping a look out for the rowers as we raced to Hawaii and the Race Directors for both races were in contact in case a close encounter seemed likely.

So this is a fully gimbaled stove when finished?

Bee – yes, it is. It’s a pretty amazing piece of work!

Nice stove. I used to have a Seacook swing stove and that’s all I needed living aboard.
